Support Hill-Stead
Hill-Stead Museum is both a local treasure and a National Historic Landmark. On any given day you may see visiting school children come face-to-face with an Impressionist masterpiece for the first time, neighbors meeting for a companionable stroll, a tourist group or garden club arriving, volunteers at work in the Sunken Garden, a scholar poring over the archives, or a family enjoying time together on the trails.
Ways to Give
Hill-Stead’s Annual Fund:
Throughout the year, Hill-Stead asks for your support. Please make a donation to the Annual Fund so that the museum may preserve its cultural and natural resources for present and future generations.
Planned Gifts:
Upon her death in 1946, Hill-Stead’s founder, Theodate Pope Riddle created Hill-Stead as part of her estate planning. She is the original member of Hill-Stead’s Legacy Society.
You can join her extraordinary legacy, and continue to pave the way for others by including Hill-Stead in your estate plans. Legacy Society members are foundational in the collective effort to sustain the beloved museum and the larger community it serves, now and for years to come.
If you are considering a bequest to Hill-Stead, its team will work with you to ensure your wishes are honored. If you’ve already made a bequest, thank you, and please share this with the museum so that you can be recognized as a member of the Legacy Society.
To plan a gift for the future, please contact Kathanne Wray, Chief Philanthropy Officer for Hill-Stead either via email ([email protected]) or via the phone (860) 677-4787 ext. 111.
Donor Advised Funds:
A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a type of giving program administered by a third party (such as Bank of America Charitable, Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, Vanguard Charitable, etc.).
It allows you to combine the most favorable tax benefits with the flexibility to easily support your favorite charities and is created for the purpose of managing charitable donations on behalf of an organization, family or individual.
DAFs are an excellent way to both simplify your charitable giving and facilitate your strategic philanthropic goals.
DAFs allow you to make gifts of cash, stock and other assets to the Donor Advised Fund.
Donors are not obligated to recommend a gift right away. Rather, you may take time to discern and select grants of specified amounts to the charities of your choice before advising your DAF administrator to make a gift to their charity.
Three Easy Steps to Using Your DAF to Support Hill-Stead Museum.
- You must have an account set up with a charitable organization that supports Donor Advised Funds.
- Contact your representative at your DAF and recommend a grant of a specific amount be sent from your fund to Hill-Stead Museum (EIN #06-0646673). Or use the DAF Direct Widget to recommend grants directly from your DAF to Hill-Stead Museum.
- Please email Kathanne Wray ([email protected]) to alert us that your gift is on the way.
